(Introduction)

The beginning of each year marks an important time in the calendar of any church. The best start is always to begin with prayer; this is why at Grace FPC we set aside the second full week of January to seek God for the many needs connected with our church family and denomination.

This year I wanted to take the congregation through some of the ‘one word prayers’ which we come across in the Bible. All was going well until the Wednesday morning; my health then took a noise dive and so I was unable to bring the final three messages. I have no idea who said, ‘Our disappointments are God’s appointments’, but certainly in any time of sickness we must submit ourselves to the Sovereign plans of our God.

I felt that putting the remainder of these ‘One Words Prayers’ into words would be the next best thing. Along with what I had already said on the Monday and Tuesday, I trust these short posts will be any encouragement to any who read.
